Juan Martin Del Potro will not play on the "Masters 1000" tournament in Indian Wells, which begins later this week. The Argentinian received a "wild card" from the organizers, but on Monday it became clear, that however he has refused participation.
As is known, the former number 4 in the world rankings and US Open champion 2009 underwent surgery on his left wrist and that this injury has taken him out of the active sports in February last year.
Although he has appeared on the courts in Sydney earlier this season, Del Potro has never fully recovered from the trauma. After the refusal of the 26 years old Argentinian "wild card" for competition in Indian Wells received the new star Thanassy Kokkinakis.
Del Potro is expected to return for the second season of "Masters 1000" tournament in Miami, which begins immediately after the battles in Indian Wells.
